Why does my dmg suck so much?
Is there something I don't understand about dmg...I have a 13-25 dmg bow with req 8 marksmanship (I have 9...) and I do like 5-7 dmg to guys my own lvl...what gives?

make sure you are standing somwhere that is higher than where they are, so you are shoting atleast somewhat down. make sure you have some distance, ( i get better damage when i stand father away). Also don't forget about a good preperation combo, i like using ignite arrows and dual shot, it's great for taking down mobs.

Go back to this site's home page, then click on Guides, then Game Mechanics. Then you'll see that at 8 Marksmanship, you aren't doing full damage with your bow, even before calculating armor.

It may also have to do with the bow itself...what bow is it? Does it have upgrades? What skills are you using with it?

My two cents:
* Get some upgrades for it * Stand further away * Use Combos + enchantments if neccessary |

make sure you use the right bow for the job i was recently on a post ascention mission and i was using my sundering longbow of defense against the plant monsters i forgot the name of them but anyway i realized what i was doing and switched to my firey ivory bow of pruning and my dmg tripled simply because i was usng a bow that was designed to combat plant life

Bow damage is way to low,in fact its silly. Now before anyone says mobs have armor or somesuch,it was the longbow which made medevil armor obsolete.

I see ranger more like disrupter, trapper or condition(er) than damager.
I have a ranger and im mainly disrupting or applying condition. If you want to make damage, like other people said, use preparation(with combo such as Ignit Arrow + Double Shot like Castanza said), good location of the field and good weapon upgrade against what you are fighting. Ugh... Rangers don't have to be support characters, contrary to the stereotype. If you're ele secondary, use conjure element. If you're a monk secondary, use judge's insight. If you don't know what those are, look them up; they can help alot. Favorable winds also helps out alot at low levels.
